Notes for nurses
Come and join us at New Milton Memorial Hall, New Milton for a performance of a variety of pieces by the New Milton choir ‘Crescendi’ – from gospel to songs from the shows
The event is being organised by Thomas James, a member of the choir:
'Back in November 2011 I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, at the time I didn’t know who to turn to for support until I was put in touch with Macmillan - they helped financially , supported my family with counselling, and even treated me for my fear of needles ( a big part of chemo). Without Macmillan the last 8 months would have been a lot tougher. The Macmillan Information and Support Centre at Southampton General Hospital is so relaxing - whilst I would be on the ward having my treatment, my wife could go to the centre and see one of the friendly volunteers who would offer refreshments and someone to talk to if needed.'
'I’m pleased to say I’m back at work and getting my life back on track, however, now I really want to help those not as fortunate as me.'
'I’m a tenor in a choir called Cresendi and we perform at festivals and events around the new forest and we are putting on a ‘one night only’ concert in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. We sing a variety of music from gospel to show songs, but Crescendi is a strictly non-classical zone! We place the emphasis very much on having fun whilst creating an amazing sound in the process. Who knows? I may even do a solo.'
Tickets £10, available from Cafe Mallard on Station Rd, New Milton or by phoning 01425 611190.
