Do you know someone with cancer who lives in Manchester? If so, we hope that they are getting all the medical care they need. But what about their day to day life? Could they do with a bit of extra support to help them enjoy the things that matter most to them?
All Macmillan volunteers have been trained. They all understand cancer, some from personal experience.
We have volunteers who will come and meet with them either at their home or another convenient place.
All Macmillan volunteers have been trained. They all understand cancer, some from personal experience. Our volunteers will be happy to sit and have a chat about the sort of help Macmillan Solutions can provide.
Anne was referred to Macmillan Solutions by her social worker. Since being diagnosed with cancer she struggled to keep up with housework and the clutter was getting her down.
We sent two volunteers round one morning a week to help sort through things and decide what to do with them. They lend a hand with other jobs too like the ironing and they always find time to sit quietly with Anne and chat with her about how her treatment is going.
Another person, we’ll call him James, has four children and is very tired with all his cancer treatment. He is very upset that he is not able to take his son to football. A young male volunteer is helping with the football and a Macmillan grant has been used to contribute towards the purchase of a football strip. The volunteer is now helping his sister get some kick boxing lessons sorted out.
Macmillan Solutions provides practical, emotional and financial support for people affected by cancer through Macmillan trained volunteers.
There are currently three volunteer led projects all run by volunteers. They will aim to get back to you in seven working days.

Being told you have cancer or that your cancer has returned can leave you feeling shocked, upset and very isolated. Talking to someone who has been through the same thing can really help.
