The Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars show their support on the day.
Saturday 19 February saw the War of the Soaps commence at a charity football match between the Lancashire and Yorkshire based soaps.
The event took place at the Manchester Sports Arena and was named the Gavin Blyth Memorial Trophy, played in memory of Emmerdale’s Series Producer who passed away from cancer last November at the age of 41.
The match was proceeded by the Gavin Blyth Memorial Ball, which saw the guys and the gals from both soaps don their gladrags for a night at the Hilton in Manchester. The event was organised by Emmerdale’s Danny Miller and raised over £65,000 for Macmillan.
After the event Danny Miller, who organised the event, said: 'Gavin's left a giant hole at Emmerdale, so we wanted to remember him by having a match against the lads from Coronation Street, to celebrate his life. The players and supporters were fantastic and every penny will help a fantastic charity that does so much to help people affected by cancer.'
