Everyone knows that after the honeymoon, the stag do, and the amazing dress, the most exciting part of a wedding is opening all the presents... right?
However, two of our supporters in Essex have very kindly decided to ask their wedding guests to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support rather than buying them any wedding gifts; a wonderful gesture that really inspired all of us. The happy couple, James and Karen, are getting married on 12 April 2013 in Billlericay, and are taking donation on their Just Giving page.
James' best friend, Jeremy Ray wrote in to say, 'I have been lucky enough to have had James as my best friend for nearly 30 years now. Over the last 2.5 years, I was diagnosed with an astrocytoma of the spinal cord. I went through surgery, radiotherapy and an initial bout of chemotherapy which unfortunately did not work and was left with a prognosis 15 months ago, that meant I wouldn’t see the wedding. Since this devasting news, James has always been there, trying to cheer me up, taking me out for drinks, football matches and so on which has been a fantastic sign of his true nature and what a kind and considerate friend he is. Fortunately, due to the additional chemotherapy my oncologist has prescribed and the wonderful support of Macmillan, I am still alive today, and have very kindly been asked to be an usher by James and Karen on their wedding day which is a real privilege, and therefore wanted to publicise their exceedingly kind gesture and possibly notify them of Macmillans response on their wedding day.'
If you would like to make this wonderful couple a gift for their wedding day, you can donate and leave your congratulations at http://www.justgiving.com/James-Karen . Thank you, James and Karen, and we all wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
