Join Team Macmillan this year
Macmillan Cancer Support are calling for runners of all abilities in North and East Yorkshire to pull on their trainers and help to raise money for people affected by cancer in 2012.
Whether you have been running for years, or whether you have never taken part in a run before, Macmillan are looking for people to join their green team in the Run For All series and take part in the Hull 10k| on Sunday 3 June, the Leeds 10k| on Sunday 8 July, or the York 10k| on Sunday 5 August.
Sally Millington, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan explains: ‘These 10k runs are such good fun and a perfect way to keep fit for the summer months. It’s a good distance for all abilities. If it’s your first ever run, it’s a brilliant goal to work towards. If you've run before it’s a good way to try running with a large number of people and beat your personal best.’
‘We hope that people will sign up to run with Team Macmillan. There’s a real sense of camaraderie on the day, the support from the crowd is fantastic and really helps to get you round the course.’
‘By taking part in one of our runs, and raising as much sponsorship as you can, you will help us to be able to reach more of the people who need us and make a big difference to their lives.'
Every bit of sponsorship that you can raise really does make a difference,
£100 could pay for a Macmillan Grant that buys fresh bedding for a person with cancer who is dealing with nausea, night sweats or incontinence because of their treatment.
£191 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a day, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
£400 could pay for an equipment grant for a Macmillan professional, enabling them to buy specialist equipment to make things easier for the people they look after. For example, they could buy a recliner chair or stair lift.
