Alison Hinchliffe of Barmby Moor opened her doors to invite ladies only to an evening of pure indulgence.
On Thursday 3 September, Alison had arranged for representatives from Vie, Avon, Girlie Goodies, Beautique of Escrick and Handmade Jewellery by Ros, to take over her house, so that she could invite friends to spend an evening treating themselves, while raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Breakthough Breast Cancer
In August last year, Alison’s Mum Helen Fletcher was diagnosed with breast cancer:
‘It really was awful. Nobody ever wants to hear those words. My mum had treatment at Castle Hill Hospital and it was amazing. The Macmillan team were wonderful. They listened to any concerns that either my mum or the rest of the family had, and they were always there for her. Mum and I decided that we wanted to do something in return for the fantastic support that we received, and we came up with the pamper night.’
Despite the evening being so windy, the night was fantastic. Helen ran the bar and Alison ensured everything ran smoothly.
Sally Millington, fundraising manager, went along:
'It was a wonderful evening and there were so many people there! The different stands were really lovely and a great way to pick up some presents and treats. It’s so nice to know Macmillan were such a help to Helen and Alison, and everyone on the night was so generous. The money that they have raised really will make a difference.’
Along with the various stands there was a magnificent raffle, and the indulgent evening raised a fantastic £611.25 to be split between the charities.
