Ripley Bridge Club has raised a magnificent £1340 for Macmillan.
The funds were raised last year by two of the members who did a sponsored (and challenging) climb of Ben Hope, the most northerly of the Scottish Munros (altitude 927 metres) and at their annual Bridge Drive. Excellent catering support was provided by the social committee and a tantalising quiz taxed brains!
Receiving the cheque, Derbyshire fund raising manager, Tracy Townend, thanked the club for its generous support, adding that, 'Every penny makes a real difference to people living with cancer and their families. For example, this amount of money could help fund the costs of a Macmillan nurse for a week, or provide financial help for a number of people struggling with the extra costs that cancer brings.'
