On Tuesday 13 December 2012, Worshipful Brother Rhys Maybrey, of St Cuthbert Lodge in Darlington, presented a cheque for £600 on behalf of the Lodge.
The money was raised in memory of a close friend of Rhys’s, John Williamson, who died from pancreatic cancer in April 2012. He received excellent and frequent care from the Macmillan nurses in Darlington, who supported him with all manner of things.
The money was raised by holding a successful social night in June and a ladies night in October.
Michelle Muir, Fundraising manager, received the cheque and said: 'It was lovely to go along to meet Rhys and his wife and receive the cheque.'
Rhys also ran the Great North Run in September which raised a further £1,139.
