Wayne's Finest Hour, at the Race
Wayne was diagnosed in July 2007 whilst working and living in Georgia America. He enjoyed life to the full, whilst following his dream this dreadful illness struck.
Wayne had many friends in the States who were there to support him and his caring family and friends in the UK.
Fortunately all the way through Wayne’s illness he had fantastic support from the company who employed him and they showed him compassion kindness and help where-ever possible.
On the weekend of 07 and 08 June 2008 (a year down the line after being diagnosed) Wayne and 2 very good friends and their families planned camped and completed a 24hour Enduro at Perry Mountain Maplesville Alabama. It was Wayne’s finest hour; the smile on his face says it all in the photo
In July 2009 Wayne had decided to come home. Our family Practioners and their staff were fantastic in every way and it was at this point the special qualities of the Nurse from the Macmillan Team were introduced to us.
We all lived in hopes that there would be some treatment for Wayne but unfortunately this was not to be. Wayne was prescribed steroids which gave him back some quality time and he and his Dad took great delight in making various journeys to where Wayne could ride his KTM 450cc.
Wayne was born 28 December 1977 and passed peacefully and lovingly away at home on 11 December 2009
In memory of Wayne, David and Joan did various fundraising events, raising an amazing £7, 465.00
They organised 2 Macmillan fundraising Days, Family members requested donations be made in loving memory of Wayne instead of gifts at their Diamond Wedding. We requested donations be made in loving memory of Wayne instead of gifts at our Ruby Wedding
