Funds raised in memory of Keith Bowler
Ex-colleagues of Keith Bowler have raised more than £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Colleagues at Sahaviriya Steel Industries UK (SSI UK ) in Redcar, Cleveland have raised more than £2000 in memory of their friend and colleague Keith Bowler. Keith was RBF Project Manager but sadly died in April 2012, just days before the blast furnace was relit.
Jon Kinder, Marty Swales and Julie Drummond walked the Whitby Whalebone Walk along with Marty’s son-in-law Jonny O’Brien and his friend James Allinson. The 24 mile walk took them eight hours from Whitby to Marske by the Sea and was completed on one of the wettest days in May.
Proceeds from the walk sponsorship and a special raffle organised by Deborah Springett raised a total of £2040. In addition Nortech and Paul Wurth made a very generous donation of £1275.
Lindsay Kay, Fundraising manager for Tees Valley would like to say a huge thank you to Jon and everyone at SSI UK, Nortech and Paul Wurth for their tremendous support. The funds raised will make a difference to local people affected by cancer.
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed, you need a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way. That’s who we are.
When the time is right, you can do something to help. We can all be part of the team. We are Macmillan Cancer Support.
