On Sunday 24 February The Friends of Ropner Park organised a guided walk of 3 kilometres around the park in the Stockton area.
The Friends of Ropner Park got together at the start of the year and decided to organise a walk. They chose to support Macmillan in memory of Ruth Ross’s late husband Malcolm.
The walk went extremely well and raised a staggering £1025 for Macmillan. Liz Airey said I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who was involved in making this event so successful, the money raised will go a long way to help local people affected by cancer.
Organiser Barbara Gill Said ‘The walk was a really well turned out event with a lovely atmosphere, despite such a cold snowy day everyone still go together to brave the weather and complete the sponsored walk. Everyone expressed how enjoyable the day was, we are over the moon to raise such a fantastic amount for Macmillan in the Stockton area.
Ruth Ross said ‘I would like to thank the Friends of Ropner Park for organising such a great event in memory of my husband Malcolm. Macmillan touches so many people and were a great support, a charity close to many people’s hearts, I am delighted at the amount raised which will help local people affected by cancer.’
