Last Night of The Proms
This year Tavistock Versatile Brass Ensemble (T.V.B.E’s) are producing two 'Last Night of the Proms' concerts to raise funds on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. The first is on Friday 10 September at Sterts Theatre|, Upton Cross, Liskeard, Cornwall, and the second a week later on Friday 17 September at Tavistock Town Hall.
The concert will feature a wealth of local talent including Soundhouse Brass Band from Plymouth. They are now one of the best brass bands in the South West and their loud full sound will fill the hall with such Proms concert favourites as Rule Britannia, Pomp & Circumstance March No.1, Jerusalem and Fantasy on British Sea Songs.
The Sterts concert will also feature local soprano Kate Walker to sing the role of Britannia together with tenor’s Tyrone Piper and Simon Prout and the Sterts Singers conducted by Jane Warrick.
The Tavistock concert will also feature local soprano Rosemary Turner to sing the role of Britannia together with Tyrone Piper and Vocal Harem and The Sultans of Sing.
The purpose of the concerts is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, who support and improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of the Last Night of the Proms. A chance for you to wave your flags, laugh, cry, sing your heart out, whistle, clap, stamp your feet and let your hair down.
Tickets and further information for 10 September is available at www.sterts.co.uk|
Tickets for the 17 September are available from The Artframe Gallery Duke Street Tavistock or can be reserved by email to chnpublications@aol.com|
