Whitegate residents sprung into action for Macmillan Cancer Support with charity daffodil walks. The walks took place from March 29 to April 11 at Foxwhist Green Farm in Whitegate, and raised £4,100! The 30 events attracted almost 600 people for a mile-long ramble through acres of unspoilt daffodils and a talk by daffodil enthusiast Len Tomlinson, who has appeared on the BBC's Gardeners World for his knowledge on hundreds of of varieties of the plant. Event organiser Gail Jackson, of Macmillan Cancer Support Vale Royal, said,
"We're absolutely delighted so many people came to enjoy the daffodils and help a worthwhile cause". The walks will take place again next year, and due to the growth in people attending, the group wouldn't mind a few more helping hands". Gail added, "It's a lot of work to organise, and we are always looking for more volunteers. This is the third year we have run the walks, and each year it gets bigger and bigger".
