The bear of hope poses with Howard Reid and friends.
Howard Reid and a team of family and friends are all set to complete the National Three Peaks over the August bank holiday.
But this is a challenge with a difference. The team from Congleton and Macclesfield are carrying with them, Daffy, a Congleton Bear. Bearmania has currently swept through Congleton with different bears appearing all over the town – Howard thought it would be a great idea to take one of the bears with him.
Howard comments; ‘The challenge is to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon all within 24 hours over the August Bank Holiday weekend.’ ‘It all seemed to easy, after a local shopkeeper joked that we should take one of the five foot Congleton bears with us. We are taking Dawn Gibbin’s bear, Daffy (bear of hope) with us and Cheshire Vehicle Rental have discounted a minibus for us, making the whole thing possible. We are looking to raise up to and beyond £2000 so if anyone can help they can donate on our justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/bearmania3peaks|
