40,000 runners and 1.2 million spectators will be lining the streets of Chicago on Sunday 7th October this year for the 30th Anniversary LaSalle Chicago marathonRace; it promise to be a fantastic event.
Andy Smith and Mark Stevens, both employees fo the Royal Bank of Scotland on the Island, are taking on the challenge in order to raise vital funds for people affected by cancer.
With a fundraising target of £5000 between them, the lads have been quick to get some events under their belt to loosen the purse strings of their supporters. With a car boot sale and charity car wash (pictured) behind them these guys really are on target with the total on their justgiving website (www.justgiving.com/smudgeandmark) totting up all the time.
After Andy's Dad died of cancer in 2006, Andy felt he wanted to give something back to the charity that had supported the family through their cancer journey...and so came about the 26 mile challenge!
The Fundraising Team would like to wish Andy and Mark the best of luck and say a huge thank you for all their efforts.
