We’re delighted that 19 local supporters have so far raised £12,897.07 on their Just Giving page for Macmillan Cancer Support following a sponsored head shave.
A group of 19 individuals from Kings College of Cambridge University had their heads shaved on Saturday 26 November, in an act of solidarity for their friend, Kate McCutcheon. Kate was unable to return to college this year after being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour towards the end of summer. The tumour was successfully removed and Kate is now undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy and will be for another eight months.
Those who took part were Hannah Shackleton, Alex Hayes, Alice Moore, Lotte Cutts, Angus MacDonald, Rob High, Paddy Kane, Chris Logan, Kieron Kumar, Elliot Carter, Paul Thomas, Rob Smith, Ben Laing, Tom England, Will Lawn, Brendan Doran, Ed Liddall, Adrian Fielding, Oisin Huhn and Mark Gotham.
Not only is it fantastic what they have all done to raise money for Macmillan, but those with long enough hair will be donating it to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children.
Fundraising manager Charlotte Darlow, said: 'I am truly humbled by the efforts these 19 past or present students of Kings College have gone to as an act of solidarity for their friend and class mate, Kate. They are all an inspiration and have raised an outstanding amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support, I would once again like to thank everyone that took part in the head shave and in particular Lotte and Hannah for organising the event.'
