Day by day itinerary

Find out what happens on each day of the Nepal trek.

Day 1 Depart London for Kathmandu

Day 2 Arrive in Kathmandu

Transfer to our hotel for a trip briefing and a relaxing dinner.

Day 3 Kathmandu – Pokhara – Karuwa (1380m)

After an early breakfast we head back to the airport for our spectacular morning flight to Pokhara. On arrival we transfer to local buses and drive a short distance to our lunch spot. After lunch we begin our trek, following the Seti river valley across farmlands and through local settlements towards Kharpani. From here we continue on to our first camp on the outskirts of Karuwa, a typical Gurung village.

Walking time approximately three to four hours.

Day 4 Karuwa – Ghaleghaon (1641m)

Todays trek sets off across our first suspension bridge and through low level farmland to the start of our climb. Passing through the village of Bhara Bhuri we follow a clear path in the trees up to a ridge where we look down into the Sardi Valley. We descend 300m to the river side and stop for a refreshing lunch. In the afternoon we climb back up to our camp site at Ghaleghaon, with fantastic views of the Annapurna Range.

Day 5 Ghaleghaon – Tara Top (2800m)

Today’s tough trek takes us higher through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests to the grassy wooded knoll of Tara Top. From here we are rewarded with a 360° view of most of the Annapurna Massif, including Lamjung Himal and the famous fishtail peak of Machupucchare. From our camp at 2800m, the Himalayan foothills drop away before us towards the Ganges and the Indian plains below.

Walking time approximately six to eight hours.

Day 6 Tara Top – Parju (1760m) – Visit Sikles (1999m)

Our route today takes us through shady rhododendron forest with overhanging mosses, lichens and wild orchids. We eventually descend to the picturesque Gurung village of Parju, set before a backdrop of snowy peaks, before reaching our camp. We may have time to explore the village of Sikles, or just relax in the high pastures for the late afternoon.

Walking time approximately five to seven hours.

Day 7 Parju – Lamakhet (870m)

We start the day with a tough and long descent, losing 900m in altitude, along a stepped track into the valley through terraced farmland. We continue along the Mardi Khola River before breaking for lunch (and perhaps a refreshing dip) on the river bank. Following the river valley we take in breathtaking views of the majestic Annapurna II and camp above the river in the small village of Lamakhet.

Walking time approximately seven to nine hours.

Day 8 Lamakhet – Pokhara

The last day of trekking takes us along a rough four wheel drive track through many villages on a slow steady climb. We reach the river by late morning where we are greeted by an early lunch and vehicles ready to transfer us back to Pokhara for a well deserved shower and a night in a hotel. Tonight we can mark our achievements with a well-earned celebration meal and cold beer.

Day 9 Pokhara – Kathmandu

We take a short, scenic flight back to Kathmandu where we are free to enjoy some of the sights, sounds and smells of this incredible city. Visit central Durbar Square and its beautiful Buddhist stupas and palaces, or the atmospheric ‘Monkey-temple’ of Boudhanath and Swayambunath and riverside Hindu complex of Pashupatinath.

Day 10 Free Day Kathmandu

We have a full day free to soak up the atmosphere of Kathmandu in its multitude of roof top eateries and bustling markets before our final night in the hotel.
