In 2009, 319 teams took part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge and over £360,000 has been raised to help people living with cancer. Teams from all across the UK took part in the toughest challenge in golf, battling extreme weather and losing hundreds of golf balls but all making a real difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families.
The Longest Day Golf Challenge finals were held at Boavista Golf Resort, Lagos, Portugal on 11-13 October 2009. It was a closely contested final between London Nomads 1, London Nomads 2, Croydon Superkings and the Moor Park Birdies. Eventually, London Nomads 2 triumphed to become the 2009 challenge winners.
The teams enjoyed two night’s accommodation at the luxury resort and two rounds of golf on the stunning 18-hole championship course with golf cart hire .
