My name is Lesley Burgess,

I'm a volunteer in the Macmillan information centre at Wythenshawe hospital.

And I've been here since the opening of the centre nearly three years ago now.

You never know who is going to come through the door in the centre so every day is different.

The type of jobs I get asked to do are different as well,

from meeting and greeting patients, making cups of tea for people.

Just trying to make them comfortable until there's one of the members of staff to come and talk to them .

Everybody is welcome in the centre,

even if they don't want information and they just want to have a look round to see what's available.

Because nobody knows whenever they may need to make use of it, and it's here for all.

I have been a cancer patient myself and I had an awful lot of help from the Macmillan team at the hospital.

So once I'd got over all my treatment I thought I'd like to give something back

and I find it very pleasurable coming into the centre.

That word, cancer, really shouldn't be frightening,

and the Macmillan team are here to support everybody.

Be it a patient, carer, health care professionals,

they're all here, it's a wonderful team, just to help people along the journey.
