I'm Kim and I'm a senior cancer information nurse specialist,

and I've worked for the Macmillan Support Line for three years now.

We get calls from anyone affected by cancer and they can be about any aspect of their cancer situation.

Sometimes people know what they're calling us about, they have very specific questions.

Sometimes people aren't really sure, they're still coming to grips with what it means,

and they're still trying to make decisions maybe,

about next steps, about treatment options, about care.

I can give people the time they need to talk their situation through.

Cancer is a very very frightening situation to be in,

and it's a privilege to me to be able to give that support and the time

that sometimes, when you're on the ward, it's very busy,

you might not always have the time that you want to sit and just talk with that person.

We have fantastic resources available to us,

to make sure that we give people the most up to date, evidence based information to support them at that time.

We want everyone to know about us because

getting the information you need, at the time you need it,

can make you feel just a little bit more empowered, a little bit less anxious,

a little less alone with everything.

The Macmillan Support Line is open from 9am to 8pm, Monday to Friday.
