I'm Catherine, and I'm part of a team

of 40 Macmillan trainers who work all around the country

for the past 20 years I've been working with people affected by cancer

and running workshops

one of the things when people have got cancer

or when they're caring for people is that they lose all sense of confidence

they feel totally out of control and disempowered

so what the workshop can give them is a sense of who they are

We run courses for patients mainly sort of around

creative ways of feeling better

so we do things like relaxation and visualisation, art therapy

things around body image and sexuality

our workshops are really unique because

we believe in shared learnings

so it means that we don't come as the expert and we've got all the answers

we work together with the group

The workshops are available all around the country at different times of the year

we have a programme that they can apply to

anyone can attend the workshops, so they might be patients, they might be carers

they might be friends of people who have had cancer

they're welcome to come to the workshops
