I’m a Macmillan breast cancer nurse specialist

I’ve been in post for twelve years

And I work at Milton Keynes NHS Trust Foundation Hospital

As a Macmillan nurse, we’re able to offer continuity of care

We get to know women right from the start

From diagnosis, during their treatment and at follow-up

When a woman or a man is newly diagnosed with breast cancer

It’s a life-changing experience for them

And they feel alone and very isolated

And some people are very wary of asking for support

I would encourage them to take that step and to use the service

Because although they feel nervous

If they did talk to us, I know they will feel better

Breast cancer is very treatable

The key to it, is early diagnosis

So we do a lot of health promotion locally

Anybody can be affected by cancer

But that’s what we’re here for
