If you feel your circumstances are too complicated and overwhelming, and you are unable to manage your debts without further support, you should seek specialist advice from a debt advice agency.
You can contact the Macmillan Support Line| to speak to benefits advisers who will be able to let you know about other sources of support.
It’s important that you establish that there will be no charge before obtaining help from any advice service. The following organisations are able to offer free, independent and impartial advice on debt problems. Many other companies offering debt advice or consolidation charge a very high fee. This can sometimes make your debts even worse.
Hopefully, by contacting your creditors and dealing with debt at an early stage you will avoid added costs.
