If you couldn’t work because of illness or disability before 31 January 2011, you may be receiving Incapacity Benefit.
This benefit has now been replaced with Employment and Support Allowance|.
Existing claimants on Incapacity Benefit or Income Support through incapacity are being transferred to Employment and Support Allowance. This process will be completed by March 2014. People will instead be assessed using the work capability assessment.
This change won’t affect people who are due to reach State Pension age before 6 April 2014.
People still receiving Incapacity Benefit will be on the long-term rate of £99.15
