Evaluations of our services
Evaluation helps us to understand the difference we make to people affected by cancer through the solutions we provide.
We use evaluation to understand the impact that our services make and to make sure that we’re providing the right services, in the right way, to meet people’s needs. In short, we need evaluation to provide evidence in order to:
prove to decision-makers, commissioners and key stakeholders that our services are having a positive impact and are worth investing in, and that we are spending our donors’ money well;
improve the quality and effectiveness of our services, by learning what works and what doesn’t work, why and in what circumstances - to ensure that we make the biggest impact possible.
Over time, we will be improving our understanding of:
the progress that is being made towards everyone being able to say the nine statements above are true for them;
the contribution of Macmillan’s work towards increasing the number of people who are able to say the nine statements are true for them;
how well - and fast - we are delivering activities that will contribute to the nine statements;
the relationship between our activities and outcomes, to show us what works and what we should be doing more of.

Macmillan is supporting numerous Redesigning the System programmes across the UK. The videos discuss the challenges and possible solutions to evaluating large-scale system redesign to help us get the most out of our evaluations.
