Macmillan Cancer Support and npower have been working together since 2004, with the partnership now valued at a staggering £5 million.
Staff have thrown themselves into fundraising for Macmillan by participating in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning and npower 10k races, amongst a number of other activities.
In 2007, npower launched a joint initiative with Macmillan called the Fuel Management Programme, which addresses fuel poverty for people affected by cancer through offering financial support and advice when people need it most. In addition to this, Macmillan and npower continue to develop new ways of working together through a range of commercial initiatives.
npower was recently awarded the CommunityMark standard from Business in the Community for the second time, which recognises them as a good investor in the community. The partnership has also been short listed for a number of awards, including the Hollis Awards and Utility Week Awards.
Charles Byrne, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Macmillan, said: “Our long term partnership with npower continues to be incredibly successful. Their staff have really been going the extra mile to fundraise for Macmillan.”
Ruth Worton, npower Charity Manager said: “We’re thrilled to still be supporting Macmillan since our partnership began in 2004 and are particularly proud to be a part of The Fuel Management Programme with Macmillan. Not only is it a brilliant initiative, it’s a great example of how we can work together to help Macmillan reach even more people and ensure people affected by cancer get the support they need every step of the way throughout their cancer journey.”
