FirstGroup, the UK’s leading transport operator, and Macmillan, began its three year partnership in 2012 after its employees overwhelmingly voted Macmillan as their national charity partner. FirstGroup’s national presence allows Macmillan to widen our reach to support even more people affected by cancer.
As part of our partnership, FirstGroup donate free advertising space on their buses to raise awareness of Macmillan’s campaigns and events including the recent ‘Not Alone’ campaign.
This has helped us to reach and signpost even more people affected by cancer to our vital support services, and showcases the value that Macmillan’s corporate partners can add for people affected by cancer. Not only that, employees of FirstGroup take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and have been encouraged to fundraise throughout the business’ nationwide operating companies.
The money raised from employee fundraising, as well as corporate donations, is helping pay for grants that support people affected by cancer with money worries. By March 2015 FirstGroup hope to raise £1million in cash and kind for Macmillan.
Katie Smart, CSR and Community Manager at FirstGroup said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting Macmillan because almost everyone knows somebody affected by cancer. Our employees and customers are passionate about raising money to help the Macmillan team make a real difference to people affected by cancer.’
Partnership Account Manager at Macmillan, Sally Hill said: ‘We’re thrilled FirstGroup are supporting Macmillan to help us raise awareness of our vital services more widely across the UK and at the same time raise money for people affected by cancer.’
