Responding to the release of the Clinical Commissioning Groups’ (CCGs) Outcomes Indicator Set 2013/14, the document which will provide comparative information on the quality of health services commissioned by CCGs, Charlotte Potter, Policy Manager of Macmillan Cancer Support, says:
“We are delighted that the CCG Outcomes Indicator Set includes measures for one and five year survival rates for all cancers*. Measuring performance on survival rates will help lead to much-needed improvements in early diagnosis and treatment. “By including indicators for all cancer types, this publication takes an important step towards ensuring fair treatment for people with rarer cancers. “However we need to ensure that these indicators are used in practice and that CCGs are held to account for improving these survival rates for all cancers.”
