Responding to National Cancer Intelligence Network’s (NCIN) report on chronic myeloid leukaemia Professor Jane Maher, Chief Medical Officer of Macmillan Cancer Support, says:
“It is fantastic news that so many chronic myeloid leukaemia patients are now surviving for at least five years. The challenge will now be to provide appropriate support to help them live with the disease in the longer-term. “Macmillan has worked closely with the NHS to develop services to support cancer patients after treatment and it is vital they are now implemented.”
