Dairy Crest, the UK’s leading chilled dairy foods company has launched a new partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to help improve everyday life for people affected by cancer.
Dairy Crest employees across the country will be raising money to help Macmillan improve lives in local communities. As well as individual fundraising, which in the past has seen milkmen run marathons and canoe rapids, there will also be a fundraising envelope distributed to customers which is hoped to raise over £350,000 nationally.
There is an array of fundraising activities planned throughout the year across the whole of Dairy Crest with everything from staff getting dressed up in green to joining Macmillan’s flagship event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on 25 September. The money raised will help fund essential information services, emotional support, expert medical care and financial help for people living with cancer as well as their family and carers.
As well as raising money, the partnership will play a vital role in helping to raise awareness of Macmillan’s information and support services. Information delivered through the milkmen will be particularly valuable to people affected by cancer in remote areas or that are less able to leave their houses.
Lyndsey Andersonfrom Dairy Crest said:
'We are really happy to be supporting a charity that is able to make a difference to so many lives. We were staggered to learn that there are two million people living with cancer in the UK and we hope that with the support of Dairy Crest staff and customers across the UK, we will be able to help Macmillan in its ambition to reach everyone that is affected.'
Charles Byrne, Head of Events and Corporate Partnerships at Macmillan said:
'We are very excited about our new partnership with Dairy Crest. As a major employer and business in the UK, its support will not only raise vital funds for our services but also to raise awareness of the breadth of services we offer.'
