Responding to the Department of Health’s response to the Value Based Pricing consultation, Mike Hobday, Head of Policy of Macmillan Cancer Support, says:
“We’re pleased that the Government is introducing Value Based Pricing. This new system presents an exciting opportunity to end the inequality in access to cancer drugs that currently exists across the country. “For too long patients with less common cancers have lost out on receiving the vital medicines they need on the NHS. It is critical that Value Based Pricing results in more people with rarer cancers getting hold of the drugs their doctor recommends to them. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Government and the Department of Health to improve all cancer patients’ access to effective and innovative drugs.”
