Responding to Cancer Research UK’s report published today that shows that there is a higher cancer death rate in men, Ciarán Devane, Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, says:
'It is alarming that there is such a stark difference in cancer death rates between men and women in the UK.
'In England, we know that men are more likely to have to see their GP more than twice before being referred to hospital1.
'Alongside prevention, we need to get much better at diagnosing cancer in men much earlier to improve their chances of survival.'
