Macmillan Cancer Support honoured the incredible work of nurses and health professionals last night at their prestigious annual Macmillan Excellence Awards|.
Hosted by Olympic medallist Colin Jackson, the charity presented fifteen awards which recognised excellence in four areas: Service Improvement, Innovation, Partnership and Teamwork. Two fellowships were also awarded.
The awards, launched in 2011, were developed to celebrate the outstanding work carried out by Macmillan professionals. There are over 6,000 Macmillan health and social care professionals across the UK, many of whom are specialists in their area of cancer care and leaders in their field.
The 2012 individual and team winners were honoured at an awards ceremony held at the Park Inn Heathrow Hotel and sponsored by Macmillan’s partner Boots UK. Individual winners received a certificate and £100 and the teams received a plaque and £500. Macmillan Fellows will each be able to access a grant of up to £10,000 to invest in their professional development and their work supporting people affected by cancer.
