With the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ fast approaching, M&S Café has teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support for the third consecutive year in a bid to make the 2012 event on 28 September better than ever before.
Now in its 22nd year, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning encourages people to get together with friends, family and colleagues to enjoy a slice of cake and a coffee to help raise over £10.8million to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
Back by popular demand, Macmillan has once again created the ‘Little Book of Treats’ which will be available exclusively from M&S Cafés across the UK between 5 September and 5 October. The recipe book (suggested donation £4) is jam packed with an array of 20 celebrity recipes including Joanna Lumley’s Pecan Muscovado Cookies, Stephen Fry’s Honey Buns, Dermot O’Leary’s Chocolate & Pecan Brownies and Crunchy Banana Cake from Kimberley Walsh.
M&S Cafés also have the exclusive on Macmillan’s brand new limited edition diamante rose pin badges (suggested donation £1) which come in ice-cream colours of pink, peach or cream which can be worn with pride to show support of Macmillan’s flagship fundraiser the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
In addition, for one month from 5 September, all 280 M&S Cafés in the UK will be donating 10p from the sale of nine products to Macmillan, including the new Belgian Chocolate and Orange Cake, and on 28 September (the day of the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’) M&S Cafés will donate 50p for every coffee sold in store.
The partnership between M&S Cafés and Macmillan has to date raised over £1million for people affected by cancer. This staggering donation has helped fund the Macmillan Support Line for the past two years, offering support and advice to more than 8,350 callers a month.
Two million people in the UK are living with cancer, and one in three will be diagnosed during their lifetime. Every donation, whether 50p or £50, will help Macmillan continue providing much needed support. This could be practical help with everyday tasks, financial advice and assistance to help with the unexpected costs of cancer, emotional support or expert medical care from a Macmillan professional.
