Jill Foxley with Julia Duffin - the Macmillan nurse who inspired her
Congratulations to Jill Foxley, winner of two awards at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show last week (7-12 July 2009).
Her Macmillan Cancer Support Healing Garden not only won a prestigious Gold but was also voted The People's Choice Favourite Small Garden.
Jill said:
'I'm thrilled. The garden was designed to show off plants that are used in the making of cancer treatments, as well as be a place to offer rest, relaxation and recuperation for cancer patients and their families. 'The inspiration for this came after I was asked by a terminally ill man to help care for and add planting to a garden that his wife could enjoy after he was gone. The family had a Macmillan nurse, Julia. I witnessed her commitment, kindness and devotion to her job. It rang a chord within me and was one of those defining moments that led to the design of the Healing Garden for this show.'
