Halfords is celebrating the end of a two-year charity partnership that raised £134,056 to help people affected by cancer, with Redditch Head office colleagues contributing £11,830 to the total amount.
The retailer has corporately supported Macmillan Cancer Support for the last two years with a range of fundraising activities and initiatives.
Highlights throughout the partnership have seen Halfords staff across the UK hold marathon cycle challenges, big quizzes and go green by sporting Macmillan wigs and wearing their favourite green outfits.
Halfords’ Redditch head office colleagues baked cakes, ran bookstalls, tombolas and auctions. Macmillan mints have also been on sale across all UK Halfords stores.
David Wild, Chief Executive at Halfords commented:
'It has been fantastic to have worked with Macmillan over the past two years. Fundraising for this worthy charity enabled Halfords to give something back to our communities - as well as giving staff lots of enjoyment along the way. We bid Macmillan a very fond farewell and hope to work with them again in the future.'
Catriona Munn, Corporate Account Manager at Macmillan said:
'Thanks to everyone at Halfords who has thrown themselves into fundraising for the past two years. The money raised really does make a difference and could fund many great services – from funding a Macmillan nurse to one of Macmillan’s new community based rehabilitation support teams for example. It has been a pleasure working with all the Halfords employees.'
