The tenth annual Carers Rights Day , organised by Carers UK| , will be held on December 4. The focus of the 2009 Carers Rights Day is 'Caring for your income and pension'.
Carers Rights Day 2009 is about ensuring that carers get all the financial support they're entitled to now and for their future.
When giving up work to care, if carers don't get the right advice, they could be missing out on vital contributions to their state pension, which could affect them long term. Many carers who are already claiming a pension aren't claiming entitlements to extra financial support that could make all the different to their finances.
Each year, Carers UK works with more than 1,000 local groups to run national Carers Rights Day. Events are held across the country to:
Carers UK provides support and materials to help groups run a huge range of events, including information stalls at libraries, community centres and supermarkets, advice fayres involving a range of local partners and carer support coffee mornings.
