Warner Leisure Hotels has raised more than double its target for Macmillan Cancer Support since launching its partnership with the charity last year.

The hotel chain committed to raising £500,000 in three years and has already tallied a whopping £300,000 in just over 13 months, thanks to a number of fundraising activates across each of its thirteen country and coastal UK hotels.

The funds raised so far will pay for a range of Macmillan support initiatives. Warner Leisure Hotels could have funded:

  • 300 weeks of a Macmillan Nurse
  • the running of a large support centre for 166 weeks
  • 545,455 copies of the cancer guide
  • 2,413 Macmillan Grants to support people affected by cancer across the UK.

Warner hotel teams rallied together to smash the yearly target of £150,000 through a series of fundraising events including bake sales, afternoon teas, raffles, and spin-a-thons. Team from Thoresby Hall Hotel in Nottinghamshire ran the London Marathon to raise funds, and team members from Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel in Denbighshire ‘braved the shave’ and shaved their heads to raise awareness of the charity.

Many of the Warner team and guests have seen the impact that cancer can have and also the positive effect of Macmillan’s support. Each Warner hotel has supported the partnership brilliantly working together with guests to raise vital funds for Macmillan. Lakeside Coastal Village in Hampshire raised a fantastic £39,478.92, Sinah Warren Hotel on Hayling Island raised £34,982.13, and Bembridge Coast Hotel secured £23,987.15 for the charity.

Simon Thompson, Managing Director at Warner Leisure Hotels, said: “We’re really pleased to have raised such a substantial amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support, so early on in our partnership with the charity. Team and guests from each of our hotels have pulled out all of the stops to help fund the vital work of Macmillan to help people living with cancer. Our partnership will continue to helpfund a range of help and advice for people living with cancer.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic guests for their continued support for this cause. Many have contributed funds and some have even taken part in our fundraising events with our hotel teams. Our results are a testament to the passion and commitment shown by everyone involved in this success, thank you!”

Natasha Parker, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Warner team members and guests for their ongoing support to raise this significant sum. At Macmillan we know that by 2030 the number of people living with cancer in Britain will have increased to four million, so we will need to help and support more people, making Warner’s support more valuable than ever.”

Warner Leisure Hotels specialises in UK short activity breaks across thirteen luxurious manor houses, coastal resorts and villages in Cheshire, North Wales, Somerset, Herefordshire, Berkshire, North Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Isle of Wight, Suffolk and Hampshire.

The hotels offer guests the opportunity to explore local areas, relax in spas, enjoy a game of tennis or try something they’ve never done before, like archery, Zumba or disc golf, and enjoy exclusive evening entertainment from a number of famous acts.
