Macmillan primary care community

The key focus of these roles has been to produce recognisable improvements in the quality of cancer and palliative care provided by primary health care teams within the local health economy and at national level in the four UK nations.

Macmillan's vision for cancer in primary care is to:

• improve the primary care experience of all people living with cancer in a tangible way
• ensure that cancer is seen as a high priority in primary care
• enable equitable access to high quality cancer services for all people who suspect they have cancer, are at higher risk of having cancer or are currently living with cancer
• ensure that cancer care in primary care is well coordinated at all stages of the cancer journey including early recognition and management of patients with complex needs or terminal illness
• ensure that the primary care workforce is adequately skilled and equipped to support people living with cancer in the community.
