Macmillan produces a range of free resources on cancer genetics. You can order them from Be.Macmillan| or view them online.
A series of leaflets offering information about family history and cancer risk, and general risk factors for cancer. The series covers breast, bowel, ovarian and prostate cancer, as well as a general leaflet about cancer risk.
For anyone worried that cancer may run in their family or who has been advised, or decided, to see a cancer genetics specialist or genetic counsellor. The booklet provides information about bowel, breast and ovarian cancer.
OPERA (Online Personal Education and Risk Assessment)| is our online interactive tool that asks people specific questions about their personal and family history of breast and ovarian cancer, and then gives them a personal assessment on their hereditary risk. OPERA is currently the only online risk assessment tool available to the public that is based on the NICE guideline on familial breast cancer.
Information for women who have been told they have a significantly increased risk of developing breast cancer compared to the general population, either because of a very strong family history of breast and/or ovarian cancer, or because they have inherited a faulty BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene.
